![]() In one section of the run, BertoPlease just walks through a bunch of obstacles like a ghost, making the Dragon God fight seem like a big joke.īertoPlease’s Summer Games Done Quick run isn’t his best (he dies a few times, unintentionally). But later, BertoPlease switches graphics modes to break collision detection in a different way, cutting six minutes off the clock, according to SGDQ stream co-host Ashewyn. Early in the run, BertoPlease shows off how Demon’s Souls’ collision detection (or lack thereof) helps him sprint through the Tower of Latria prison area. (It’s worth noting that breaks down Demon’s Souls speedruns into two categories, one that uses “PS Plus warps,” as they’re called, and one that doesn’t.)Įven more interesting is how BertoPlease switches between Demon’s Souls’ Cinematic (30 frames per second) and Performance (60 fps) graphics modes to completely break the game. Berto uses it again after defeating the Storm King to warp directly back to Boletarian Palace to wrap things up with King Allant. You can see BertoPlease use Activity Cards to warp quickly through Boletarian Palace at the run’s five-minute mark and later, after defeating the Dragon God, to head right back to the palace again. BertoPlease showed off a couple of techniques that are exclusive to the PS5 remake, including one that uses PlayStation 5 Activity Cards to warp across the game’s land of Boleteria faster than using the normal teleportation method, archstones. Speedrunner BertoPlease employed those techniques during a speedrun of Demon’s Souls at Summer Games Done Quick this weekend, exhibiting incredible stamina-management skills and underscoring just how overpowered magic is in the game. There’s also plenty of intentional loading and reloading of saves to reset the game world.īut speedruns of last year’s Demon’s Souls remake for PlayStation 5 tap into some unexpected exploits, including one that uses the console’s UI features and another that capitalizes on the remake’s graphics settings to break the game. After the warp rune is finished, she warps the Farmer back to their farm, but only after suggesting they return and lend Castle Village their aid in fighting the monsters of the Crimson Badlands. If you’ve ever watched a speedrun of a FromSoftware-developed game, like Bloodborne or Dark Souls, you know how those displays of expert-level gaming tend to go: Speedrunners literally run through most of the game, avoiding combat when they can, and exploit seams in the environment to access areas that are supposed to be out of bounds. Camilla directs the Farmer to make their warp rune, handing over a Swirl Stone formed naturally within the badlands. It stands on the edge of the Crimson Badlands a terrible wasteland formed from an ancient curse. This is Castle Village Outpost on the continent of Galdora. They teleport again, this time appearing at a tower on top of a cliff in a windswept desert. Important things are happening and she asks this time if the Farmer will come with her. ![]() Camilla compliments the beauty of the Farmer's Nexus and asks forgiveness for the sudden kidnapping. They appear at the Farmer's Nexus in Enchanted Grove. She briefly says hello before stepping forward and teleporting them both away. Once all the other Nexus points are created (Joja = 4 points / Community Center = 6 points) and at least one day has passed, Camilla will knock on the front door after the Farmer has re-entered the farmhouse. ![]() Magnus tells the Farmer to seek out other locations to expand the Nexus, and warns of a colleague of his who will soon pay a visit. He follows, commenting positively on the successful nexus point created at the Enchanted Grove. When it is successfully completed, Magnus tells the Farmer to step on the rune and teleport back to the Nexus. Magnus produces a potion he created earlier within the tower, and instructs the Farmer to place it on a portal within his warp hall and summon a warp rune. ![]() ![]() He takes the Farmer back to his tower basement where he explains an object formed within a location is necessary to create the warp connection. This new pocket outside of time pauses the seasons, weather, and shields the spot from outsiders.Īfterward, Magnus says the next step is to create the nexus warp points within the grove. Together, Magnus and the Farmer combine their magic to alter the flow of time within the Enchanted Grove. Above the cliffside is an enchanted grove where mana is increased. He instructs the Farmer to follow him up a new stairway that has appeared. When the Farmer arrives, Magnus is already at the Backwoods behind the farm. ![]()
